Mission Statement Riverwood Child Development Center provides quality childcare to residents of the growing Riverwood communities. Children will learn the skills needed to be successful in the primary school grades, and the learning will occur in an environment that fosters social and intellectual development as well as creativity and self esteem. Most of all we, at the center, will strive to instill a love of learning in all children with whom we have the privilege of working. Overview Riverwood Child Development Center is located in the Riverwood Athletic Club neighborhood directly outside of Clayton. We will be in close proximity to both Riverwood Elementary and Middle Schools. Riverwood Child Development Center is an all-day childcare facility. We serve children ages 6 weeks-5 years. We also offer Before, After School Care and a Summer Day Camp program to children in Kindergarten through age 10. Starting in the Fall of 2007 we will be offering a part time Pre-School Program. The program will serve children 3 - 5 year olds and will follow the Johnston County School Calendar.   Tuition Following are the tuition rates for Riverwood Child Development Center. I have been working with Childcare Choices in Johnston county to determine rates, and the rates we have decided to charge are in accordance with the tuition charged by other centers in the Clayton area. Tuition can be paid on a weekly or monthly basis. Tuition rates are outlined below. Infants: $180.00 per week One Year Olds: $175.00 per week Two Year Olds: $167.00 per week Three-Five Year Olds: $162.00 per week Before School Care: $42.00 per week After School Care: $57.00 per week Before and After School Care: $74.00(Transportation Included) Summer Day Camp: $150.00 per week Part-Time Preschool(Ages 3-5): 2 days-$115.00 monthy, 3 days-$150.00 monthly and 5 days-$225.00 monthly **EARLY PAY DISCOUNT** - If your Weekly Fee is paid by 6:00pm on Tuesday, you will receive a $10.00 DISCOUNT. (Discount does not apply to part-time pre-school program)   Staff Our goal is to recruit dedicated and qualified teachers and assistants to staff our center. All teachers will meet the state educational criteria and will be required to have past experience in childcare. We would prefer that our teachers have a greater extent of education than the Early Childhood I and II credentials which are required by the state, including a college degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field. Although teacher assistants are not required to have any educational background in early childhood, we are trying to recruit experienced individuals to fill these positions as well. Assistants will be encouraged to complete the Early Childhood Credentials training. Individuals working with our After-School Program will complete Basic School Aged Care training and will have past experience with school aged children either in the school system or in a similar program serving elementary students. There has been an overflow of extremely qualified people who are interested in working at our center. I feel we will have an exceptional staff in place upon opening. A deep love for children and a strong desire to help them feel special and successful on a daily basis are the most important requirements for individuals interested in working with the children in our center. Each classroom as outlined above will have a lead teacher and assistant in place on a full time basis. We also plan to keep a third staff member in place in the two and three year classrooms as often as possible due to the age of the children and the capacity for these rooms. Because we have chosen to reduce our capacity in each room while still keeping at least two staff members in place at all times, our staff/child ratios will be lower than what is required by the state.
